As reported by Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Castellón-based road transportation company chose to switch its trucks’ engines to LNG because of the ‘considerably huge’ advantages in terms of cost, speed and drive range compared to vehicles powered by electric batteries.
“The minimum cost savings exceeds 30 percent in a medium-duty vehicle, so it is even higher in a heavy truck. Besides, environmental improvement is undeniable, and maintenance costs are also clearly lower,” said Manuel Monfort Colom, owner of Transportes Monfort.
It is worth adding that the company opened its own filling station in Castellón, where public can access to LNG and CNG refueling. “Although our primary goal since we opened the facility is to supply the trucks in our fleet, we also help those pioneers who have opted for a natural gas vehicle, as a couple of taxi drivers in Castellón or some municipal vehicles, among others,” added Monfort Colom.
