The vehicles, which feature an in-line, five-cylinder engine that meets Euro 5 and EEV standards, were delivered by Gerritse, Scania trucks’ dealer in the region, and will fuel at a natural gas station in the town of Tiel. However, there are short-term plans to install a filling point near AVRI’s facilities in Geldermalsen.
Equipped with an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission, Scania P310’s engine system can automatically switch the methane, which is an advantage when driving on biogas or a mixture of biogas and compressed natural gas.
These two trucks will be used for the collection of residual and organic waste in Tiel, Gelderland. AVRI also plans to switch its entire refuse fleet to methane.
