The motor race is organized by OJSC Kamaz and its official NGV distributor OOO RariTEK in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. According to the organizers, one of the main purposes of the event is to encourage efficient and eco-friendly natural gas on which the racing vehicles will run, and also to improve the image of the largest Russian truck producer celebrating its 45th birthday this year.
The NGV models participating are a city low-entry bus Nefaz-5299-30-51, a dump truck Kamaz-6520-33, a garbage truck Kamaz-4308, a sports truck Kamaz-4911 of the Kamaz-master team, a combination of a bolster-type tractor Kamaz-5490-001-68 and a semitrailer Nefaz-93341-15-08, and a Bravis bus – the first pilot gas model of the joint venture of Kamaz and Brazil’s Marcopolo.
The total length of the route is 5,800 kilometers. Starting from Naberezhnye Chelny on May 31, the vehicles went to Kazan, then to Ulyanovsk, Saratov, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Stavropol, Krasnodar and Novorossiysk. The program also included round table meetings, auto shows and press conferences. After ferry in Feodosia, the vehicles will finish in Simferopol on June 11.
According to the Russian Ministry of Energy, by 2030 the promotion of natural gas will boost NGV production to 3.8 million units, increase the number of CNG filling stations to 8,400, help generate more than 58.9 thousand additional jobs and reduce pollutants.
