While the Passat is being employed as a fleet pool vehicle, the Opel Zafira is used for the airport security and the Opel Combo for workshop duties. Airport authorities confirmed the initiative was undertaken due to good environmental performance and also due to the fuel cost savings.
“We will gradually move our fleet to environmentally friendly vehicles with alternative power sources,” stated Dobmeyer Friedrich, Head of Division Series vehicles at the Munich airport.
It is worth adding that the use of “bioenergy” plays a central role in this airport as its authorities adopted a project involving the use of biofuels, framed within the “Climate Program Bavaria 2020” of the Bavarian state government.
