Piedmont Natural Gas and The Spinx Company announced an agreement to add a Piedmont CNG refueling station at a Spinx convenience store location. Piedmont will lease space at an existing Spinx store located at the corner of Pearman Dairy Road and West Whitner Street in Anderson, South Carolina, in order to install the necessary refueling equipment and compressors. This site will be Piedmont’s first ever at an existing convenience store location.
Piedmont will own and maintain the site’s natural gas facilities which will be open to the public for use by commercial fleets and individual vehicles. It will be Piedmont’s 11th public CNG refueling station in the Carolinas and in Tennessee, and its third public CNG station in South Carolina.
“We are pleased to partner with Piedmont in order to offer CNG to our commercial fleet and individual customers. The use of CNG as a transportation fuel is growing as is the refueling infrastructure that supports that growth. We believe this project fits very well with our own vision and mission to make people’s lives easier and to provide quality services and products,” said Spinx Chief Executive Officer, Steve Spinks.
Piedmont’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Karl W. Newlin, also commented: “We are very pleased to be working with The Spinx Company to place a public CNG refueling facility at one of their stores in Anderson, South Carolina. This is an important milestone for us as we continue to extend the base of our public CNG refueling stations along the important I-85 corridor in North and South Carolina.”
